Livro escrito por Leon Leyson.

O livro relata a vida de um jovem chamado Leon Leyson que vivia nos seus tempos de infância em Narewka, uma cidade na Polónia.

 Leon tinha cinco irmãos, era o mais novo de todos, como consequência este via-se obrigado a usar as roupas dos seus irmãos mais velhos pois a sua família para além de ser numerosa, tinha poucas posses a nível financeiro.

Tinha uma vida muito pacata, tal e qual como todas as outras crianças da sua idade.

Leon gostava muito de brincar com os seus amigos, no entanto, muitas das pessoas que habitavam na sua cidade olhavam para ele e para a sua família com algum desprezo por estes serem judeus.
